Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before their first game — playing, teams, GPS and creating your own.
- Is OutdoorQ free?
- Yes — every game in the catalogue is currently free to play. All you need is a phone and a bit of daylight (or a night game and a bit of dark).
- Do I need to install an app?
- No. Games run right in the browser. If you like, add OutdoorQ to your home screen and it launches full-screen like an app.
- How does a team join one game?
- One person starts a session and shares a link or a six-character code. Everyone who joins sees the same game, live.
- How many people can play?
- A crew of 2–6 sharing one session is the sweet spot. Bigger group? Split into crews and compare scores at the finish.
- How does the GPS unlocking work?
- Each place stays sealed — no name, no photo — until you're actually standing there. GPS confirms you've arrived, and only then does the story unlock.
- What if GPS is imprecise?
- The game is built for it: arrival zones adapt to the surroundings, and if you get stuck, the in-game guide can nudge you or unblock the step.
- Can we pause and continue later?
- Yes. The session survives a closed tab, a lost signal or a coffee break — the home page offers a way back into an unfinished game.
- Can kids play?
- Yes, with an adult along. Calmer day games work great for families; the team sets the pace.
- What languages are available?
- The app speaks English, Czech, Spanish and Polish. Each game lists the languages it supports.
- Can I create my own game?
- Yes — Studio validates your game definition and lets you play-test it right away in a GPS simulator. AI-assisted composing is on the way.
